Home arrow F.A.Q. arrow What does "Flashing of Cross Members" mean?
Flashing of cross members pertains to the underbelly of the boat. If you were to look under the deck, between the pontoons you would see the 3' tall "C" Channel cross members. These support the floor of the boat much like floor joists support the floor of your house.

To flash these cross members is to secure a thin piece of aluminum sheeting to the under-side. This provides for a smooth surface for the water to splash against. Without this aluminum skin, the water would splash against the cross members, slowing down the boat and creating a slight pounding sensation resulting from the spray coming off of the pontoons and hitting the cross members and floor.

Flashing is standard on all 3-tube boats, and is available as an option on 2-tube boats.
